Welcome to JohnRounds.com
This project has been several years in the making and I am excited to share blog posts, interviews, and case studies that may help us both transition from living life by default to living a life by design.
Since this is the very first blog post on this site, I think it’s important to explain what it means to me to live a life by design. Living a life by design means getting up every day and doing the things that are most important to you, the things that have the most meaning, the most significance. It means more days then less where you are truly excited about the day. It means having the ability to visit places around the world and spend time with the people you care about most in your life. It means working on projects that excite you. Living a life by design means being productive in a way that is in sync with your core values and taps your passions. Basically what you want, when you want, with whom you want.
What is the single most important aspect of creating the above scenario? Financial independence and freedom. By that I mean passive/residual financial independence where your monthly residual income meets and even better exceeds your monthly expenses. I would like to repeat that point, because it’s a really important component to living a life by design. Financial independence is the point where your monthly residual income meets or exceeds your monthly expenses. Most call this freedom day because it is the day when you can finally focus on the most important things in your life. I think of it as thrive mode instead of survive mode.
With that I am excited in the near future to share wisdom from the authors, teachers and mentors who have helped to shape my vision of my ideal life in hopes that you will find the means to shape yours. Striving to create financial freedom in my own life and surrounding myself with others who are in pursuit of the same is what fires me up every day.
So here is to a LifeByDesign rather than default.

“If you were to show me your current financial plan, would I get so excited by it that I would go across the country and lecture on it? If the answer is no, then here’s my question: ‘Why not?’ Why wouldn’t you have a superior financial plan that is taking you to the places you want to go?” — Jim Rohn
